I did a Q&A with Drea Blackwell, Sports analyst at KSBW and ask her some questions about the “NBA Playoffs” being a sports analyst she had the answers I was looking for.
Q: Do you think this is the point of LeBrons falloff
A: I actually think we are seeing the opposite. Lebron is in his 15th season, 33 years old, and may be having one of the best seasons of his amazing career. He is still the best player in the NBA and, in my eyes, has not shown any signs of slowing down. For example, Lebron played all 82 regular season games this season. It is the first time in his career that he has done that, and in today’s league, where players take nights off to rest, or run into injuries, it is extremely impressive.
Q:How do you think the NBA Playoffs have been so far
A: The 2018 NBA Playoffs have been far more competitive, and I believe, more exciting than years passed. We saw upsets in the first round, such as Portland being eliminated and Oklahoma City’s “Big Three” undone by the Utah Jazz. I have been critical of the NBA Playoffs and their structure in previous years, but I think this year’s has been much better.
Q: How much of a difference does Steph Curry make on the Warriors in your opinion
A: Steph Curry is the most valuable player on the Warriors. That includes Kevin Durant. While I think Kevin Durant is a better individual player than Steph, what Steph provides to the Warriors is immeasurable. We saw them struggle at the end of the regular season without him on the floor. It would be close, but I could see the Warriors getting eliminated in the second round, had Steph not returned.
Q: Is Toronto the worst 1st seed ever
A: (This one gave me a solid laugh). I wouldn’t go so far as to say the worst “ever”, but they are definitely underwhelming. The Raptors, whether it be regular season or the playoffs, do not seem to have an answer for Lebron James on the defensive end. Even on nights where they are shooting the ball well (like in game two) they cannot stop Lebron.
Q: Are the 76ers Going to go all the way
A: Just a few weeks ago, I believed the 76ers had a shot to make it to the NBA Finals. Now, having watched them against Boston, and seen the way the Cavs are handling Toronto, I do not think that they can make it. The 76ers have some great, young players but probably not enough experience to make it to the finals (yet).
Q: Is the two way duo of James harden and CP3 defeat the Warriors ina 7 game series
A: The Rockets have a very talented team. That duo, James Harden and Chris Paul, is great and they do have a chance…but I am still taking the Warriors. The Rockets are extremely reliant on three-point shots. Even more so than Golden State. I also believe the Warriors have a profound defensive advantage. If Klay Thompson can stay out of foul trouble, while guarding James Harden, the Warriors will be fine.
Q: Can the Celtics make a nice comeback on the 6ers
A :he Celtics look great. They have bounced back extremely well, from devastating injuries to their two best players (Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward). We have to give a lot of credit to their coach Brad Stevens, who is one of the best coaches in the league. He has them ready to play.
Q: Can a pretty good all around team (Jazz) make it past the Warriors
